We have a Memorial Program at Folsom Lake State Recreation Area designed to bring comfort to those who have lost a cherished or honored loved one. The program consists of either a lakeside picnic table or bench that comes with the memorial inscription of your choice. FOLFAN manages the Memorial Program in cooperation with the Folsom Lake SRA.
The picnic table and bench options are made of concrete with a smooth finish. They are made to withstand vandalism and are heavy enough that they are virtually impossible to move or steal.
The sponsor of a memorial picnic table or bench chooses where it will be placed, usually in a lakeside location along the shores of Lake Natoma or Folsom Lake. It must be placed somewhere in the state park that allows tables or benches. Ideally it will replace a table/bench that needs to be replaced or is missing from where it once was. The location needs to be accessible to the tractor or other equipment to be used. Ultimately the location and the inscription must also be approved by state parks management.
The Memorial Program includes a one-time sponsor fee of $2500. As FOLFAN is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, the fee is a tax deductible donation. The fee covers the cost of the original picnic table or bench. It does not cover the cost of a replacement table or bench if one were ever needed. (We chose cement because it is virtually indestructible.)
