SUMMARY:Juneteenth Celebration at Historic Black Miners Bar

And ultimately\, heal the wounds of the past while preserving our history for future generations.” \n“The Juneteenth event\, while a celebration\, is also a reminder of the dark part of our nation’s history and the historic emancipation that gave freedom to enslaved African Americans\,” said Jim Cassio\, FOLFAN president. “We have made Juneteenth an important part of FOLFAN’s efforts to bring the community together to better understand our history and at the same time enjoy the wonderful natural resources available to us in this special place along the American River.” \nJuneteenth at Black Miners Bar is sponsored by FOLFAN\, California State Parks\, and the Juneteenth U.S.A. at Black Miners Bar Planning Committee. Also essential to making this event possible is a growing list of co-sponsors including California Department of Fish and Wildlife\, Intel Corporation\, REI\, City of Folsom\, Sacramento Regional Transit\, and more. SacRT is providing free transportation on event day so people can get to Historic Black Miners Bar from anywhere in Sacramento. \nEvent features will include: \n\nEducational exhibits\nFood vendors\nA variety of speakers\nFree guided nature and history walks by park docents and state parks interpreters\nFree coloring station for kids 12 and under\nArts and crafts\nVendor exhibits\nMusic\n\nThe state park location provides lakeside beach access\, including paddlesport rentals. \nWhile the Juneteenth event is free\, vehicles are subject to a $10 day use fee to enter the state park. SUMMARY:Sharing Our Habitat with Wildlife in a Safe and Healthy Way! Presentation by Michele Dodge
DESCRIPTION:When you think of wildlife habitat\, you may be thinking of open\, wild spaces. But as we encroach into\nopen spaces\, wildlife that have long used those areas find themselves interacting more and more with\npeople. Our yards\, decks\, and other outdoor areas are potential attractants to wildlife and their use of\nthose areas can lead to unexpected and unintentional consequences. Michele will identify some of the\nmany hazards we create for wildlife\, and focus on becoming more aware of how we can help our wild\nfriends stay out of danger. She will use real life rescue stories to illustrate the dangers\, focusing on actions we can all take to mitigate those threats. \nPlease sign up at: https://signup.zone/r8jk4eQuhRBGnMuwM and provide your email and phone number in case we need to contact you. If you have any questions\, please contact Karen Shaffer at kshaffer27@gmail.com. \nThis presentation by Michele\, a local wildlife rescue expert and wildlife photographer\, is part of California State Parks Week.
